CALL FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS
The World Federation for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (WFTOD) and EUROPAD will select up to 12 oral presentations to be presented during the next AATOD congress (New York, NY, USA, March 10-14, 2018).
Based on your interest and research activity in the field of heroin addiction, on behalf of The European Opiate Addiction Treatment Association, we would like to extend a cordial invitation for you to submit an oral presentation concerning the bio-psycho-social aspects of heroin addiction.
Selected oral presentations will be published as short communication in Heroin Addiction and Related Clinical Problems.
Deadline for submission is NOVEMBER 15, 2017
Requirements
Oral presentations are welcome, which are not under consideration for presentation elsewhere, and adhere to following requirements:
Must provide with evidence from clinical populations of heroin addicts.
Data shall be presented in the form of a statistical elaboration.
Works may consist in a variety of models, including epidemiological studies, observational studies, research designs.
Data of interest include social, environmental and demographic features, genetic profiling, direct behavioural measurements, personality features, neurophysiologic measurements, endocrine parameters, brain imaging, pharmacological trails
Oral presentations should include the statement that all ethical requirements (e.g. informed consent) have been fulfilled in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki.
Procedure
Please submit an abstract of your possible oral presentation using a file in word format to this e-mail address: info@wftod.org
A special committee will select abstracts and check the pertinence of submitted abstracts to the focus of interest along the above criteria. Authors of selected abstracts will be invited to provide an oral presentation of their work to be presented during the next WFTOD FORUM during the next AATOD congress (New York, NY, USA, March 10-14, 2018).
Unfortunately WFTOD-EUROPAD cannot support financially your participation to the conference. We are trying to collect sponsorships. If sponsored, we will divide funds between presenters.
Please note that submission of the abstract does not constitute acceptance for presentation.

Intensive Training Course: Basic Concept and New Pharmacological Approach (Buprenorphine) to the Treatment of Heroin Addiction ha been held in Sofia (Bulgaria) on September 3-4, 2012. It was organized by the WFTOD (World Federation for the Treatment of Opioid Dependance) and the Bulgarian Methadone Treatment Association, with the Patronage of UNODC.
Intensive Training Course: Basic Concept and New Pharmacological Approach (Buprenorphine) to the Treatment of Heroin Addiction ha been held in Sofia (Bulgaria) on September 3-4, 2012. It was organized by the WFTOD (World Federation for the Treatment of Opioid Dependance) and the Bulgarian Methadone Treatment Association, with the Patronage of UNODC.
Dr. Alexander Kantchelov, President of the Bulgarian Methadone Treatment Association, introduced the training course by speaking about the philosophy and the basic concepts of drug addiction treatment.
About 50 doctors involved in the field of drug addiction attended the training course. They came from all over Bulgaria.
At the end of the two-day training course, a visit was organized to the Kantchelov Clinic. Prof. Maremmani met patients and their parents.

Please join us in Las Vegas for this event and many more of the conference offerings, which are described on the AATOD website.The World Federation for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (WFTOD) was founded during the EUROPAD meeting of July 2007 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. All of the member nations, which included the member countries of EUROPAD and all of the member states within AATOD, agreed to a charter for the World Federation. These presentations represent the broadest inclusion of Medication Assisted Treatment for opioid addiction throughout the world.
